Accountability? I do not understand that word

Plenty of pundits think this round of hearing on the deaths in Benghazi will damage HIllary Clinton but my prediction is the opposite — a little sound and fury and then it will disappear again. While there is leakage Old Media still has enough influence to prevent stories damaging to their political idols from achieving wide spread awareness, regardless of how damaging the facts are.

After all, if a reporter made a big deal of something that reflected badly on the Obama Administration, those people might yell at him and that would just be too much to bear even for our brave and fearless journalists.

We shall see (maybe). I have trouble getting too wound up about it since it’s all easily explained by incompetence.

If it was just incompetence, it would tend to be random rather than almost always leaning in a specific direction. Not that our modern journalist class isn’t spectacularly incompetent too.

What do you mean by “almost always leaning in a specific direction” with regards to Benghazi? I haven’t been following it that closely, so I may well be confused by what’s going on.

The lack of coverage primarily. The lack of any investigative effort (interviews with survivors, perhaps, as in almost all other similar situations?). The acceptance of Sec. of State Clinton’s comment “What difference, at this point, does any of that make?” when asked about what she did during the crisis. The jailing of the filmmaker, basically on Clinton’s orders (she promised to that and shortly afterwards he was in jail) to justify a completely trumped up and known false story (i.e. the attack was caused by a YouTube video).

Bret;

Here is another example, which even the hard core left on MSNBC admits would be a nation shaking scandal if done by a Republican. That’s not just incompetence.
