Winning The Future

Ah, the joys of an objective, non-profit driven public sector which is securing a prosperous future for us by canceling programs in electrical and computer engineering, and foreign language programs, while hiring additional ‘diversity’ administrators. We are so lucky to have these people looking out for the common good!

Few, if any, protected minorities in those programs, so no rationale to support them.

With the help of a couple martinis, I followed pretty much all the links cascading from the one in your post. It was a rewarding exercise.

Perhaps most [enlightening, galling, infuriating, completely expected] (pick one or more) is this from the UCSD Chancellor:

Our path forward includes many challenges. Some misguided individuals may employ their First Amendment rights to publish or speak in ways that seem to defy the very education they have received at UC San Diego.

… [snip]

The strength of our campus community is measured by our ability to accept the diverse viewpoints of colleagues and peers. Above all, the campus must be inclusive and provide for the individual freedom to express views without fear of intimidation.

The snip, which separates one statement from its complete contradiction, amounts to four sentences of the, in turn, sinister, obvious, banal, and idiotic.

At the risk of providing too much information, and I say this only because my wife is with my son’s Boy Scout troop hiking the Chilkoot Trail for the next several days, I think I am in love with Heather Mac Donald.

Heh. Perhaps I should add that to the Extrospective only post. These just don’t seem to ever think about what they’re writing. Bicameral minds I tell you.

There aren’t many places where a bicameral mind reference appears and people get it.

aog, you have been missed … and where are the pictures from your trip to the auld sod?
