Has any one else been amused by the failed efforts of the Governor of Hawaii to find President Obama’s birth certificate? The statement by a friend of the Governor

[Governor] Neil [Abercrombie] says that he searched everywhere using his powers as governor ….. there is no Barack Obama birth certificate in Hawaii. Absolutely no proof at all that he was born in Hawaii.”

First rate messaging.

Ya didn’t get your post up fast enough aog. Mike Evans walked back from his statement. Said he never even talked to his friend, the gov. Remember how we laughed at the Soviet media?

From Sister Toldjah:

…why Obama just won’t clear the air by authorizing the release of the long form. I suspect it has everything to do with the fact that most everyone views birthers as “crazy” and Obama, rather than putting the issue to bed, deliberately keeps the issue alive so as to insinuate all of his political opposition is “nuts.”

Diabolically clever.

Birth notices in two Honolulu newspapers were published within days of Obama’s birth at Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu. Given that Obama was a U.S. citizen even if born outside the U.S., and that nobody could have foretold that he’d be running for POTUS, why would anyone arrange for birth notices to be published in U.S. papers if Obama were foreign-born?

Oh well, at least it’s better entertainment than Rookie Blue.

Yes, I am sure somone explained how he should “clarify” his remarks.

AVRRA;

First, I am posting about the incompetence, not Obama’s birth specifically. But I see you’ve absorbed several bogus talking point that I feel obligated to correct.

Given that Obama was a U.S. citizen even if born outside the U.S.

That’s not actually true. Because of the laws at the time, and his mother’s age, his citizenship would not be automatic if he was born outside the USA.

nobody could have foretold that he’d be running for POTUS, why would anyone arrange for birth notices to be published in U.S. papers if Obama were foreign-born?

You can think of no other advantage to being a US citizen at birth than running for President later? Not, say, getting the upper hand in a custody dispute with the foreign national father? Passports for traveling? Residency with his American family? Tom Maguire disects that trope.

What Tom doesn’t address is that Obama’s parents probably never lived together. His mother left for Seattle and grad school three weeks after he was born (it’s not clear if she took the baby with her) and she didn’t return to Hawaii until after his father left for Harvard.

So the gov’s contention that he remembers seeing the young couple with their baby around town is complete nonsense. The address on those newspaper birth announcements is Obama’s grandparents’ address although his father had an apartment of his own.

The American Thinker has quite a few posts with actual facts like those above. Sorry I didn’t save the links and am too lazy to look them up, but there’s an interesting article at World Net Daily.

One reason posited for the lack of birth certificate in the file is that after any adoption, the name is changed on the actual BC, so Obama’s BC would read Soetero and the name Obama wouldn’t appear. That’s probably the reason Obama doesn’t want it made public and why the governor was right when he said he could only find handwritten notations about the birth of a baby named Obama.

That he had his name changed and had an Indonesian passport is indisputable. The question is when did he change his name back to Obama and get a U.S. passport? Only his legal guardian could do it before he reached maturity, but who was his legal guardian while he lived with his grandparents?

It was probably his mother who was flitting around the third world living the fastasy of a blithe spirit and who didn’t include Hawaii in her wanderings and most likely wasn’t the type to care about silly paperwork anyway, so he probably didn’t change his status until he left Occidental where he matriculated as a foreign student. That’s why those records are sealed.

Did he ever matriculate at Columbia? It’s not clear and those records are sealed as well. Not that it mattered, he went to Chicago, became a community organizer, got in with the right, i.e., the left, people, got sent to Harvard Law School as a prepaid package, got hired by one of the most famous and wealthy lefty law firms in the country, went back to Indonesia for two years with his blushing bride Michelle (also a member of the same law firm) to write his memoirs (paid for by his employers), came back, lost his law license, bought a multi-million dollar home, pulled some low-down tactics on the opposition to get elected state senator, did the same thing to get elected to congress, got a gig at Kerry’s presidential convention and the rest is history.

Yet those who ask the questions are ridiculed while the perps continue in power.

erp;

I think this is the article you remember.

I do find it amusing that if the whole thing is so obviously baseless, the defenders have to distort and make things up in its defense. That’s the kind of smoke that’s indicative of a fire.

My personal opinion continues to be that the real birth records contain information that is damaging to the Obama brand, but not of any significant legal consequence. E.g., the father is listed as “unknown”, or his birth race is “white”, etc. Plus, it really annoys the right people when it’s brought up. That’s worth the price of admission right there.
