Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Can’t be easy to photograph something moving that fast.

I’m betting the photographer used a wide format camera with beau coups mega pixel, very large aperture lens, then cropped as required.

That’s not saying it is easy, but it sure as heck isn’t cheap.

Was that a multi-stage rocket?

It was taken at 100mm which is not wide angle. It’s cropped down to 1200×1800 from 2848×4288. The real technique is having a camera that does 6-8 frames per second and practice at tracking the rocket during ascent. The big rockets are easier as they have much lower accelerations. A bright cloudless day helps as well (so I can have a 1/1250s exposure). Also, of course, I only post the good ones.

It was a single stage rocket.
