Nice pictures. I would have tried getting some of our local fireworks, but they were rained out.

Ours were rained out last year. This year the parade got started but about half way through we were hit with a short but intense rain cell. I was out with Boy One and Boy Two with the Boy / Cub Scout float and being scouts they trudged on through the rain, to the cheers of the crowd.

I did these with a 2-second exposure. Lots of misses but I set the camera up and just hit the shutter button at regular intervals. They turned out much better if there was a fading previous firework or I started it right after detonation. Otherwise it would be very over exposed. The feathering effect was from the wind blowing the particles. The random lights in the background are an airplane that was circling.

Best fireworks pictures I have ever seen.

You mean these two, or the gallery as a whole?

Question answered.

They are all excellent; some of them, because you exploited the way the camera “sees” differently than we do, are actually more striking than the real thing.
