We'll fill in the protest signs later

This is from the New York Times (via Brothers Judd) so it may well bear no relationship with reality, but

While there is growing anticipation that the summer will bring the spectacle of a pitched Supreme Court confirmation battle, some Senate Republicans are lowering expectations that they are planning any major political fight.

That’s Stupid. How can you plan on whether to have a political fight before you know who the nominee is? Doesn’t the value of such a fight depend, just a bit, on who exactly President Obama nominates? Or is this an admission that’s its all Kabuki and the details that affect the lives of we peasants irrelevant?

In what parallel or even intersecting universe does the NYT have the skinny on senate Republican plans?

Not that I doubt they’ll do something/anything incredibly stupid, I just don’t think the Times are on the inside.

We’re irrelevant is a given.

We’re irrelevant is a given.

Not a given. The GOP chose, at every step of the way, the self-destructive actions and policies which have lead to their rejection by a majority of the electorate - including by me, a two-time Bush voter, a Reagan-lover who WANTS to be a Republican. But as has been said many times about various situations, “I didn’t leave them, THEY left ME.”

We’re irrelevant because we’re not organized. The Republican party needs to be completely overhauled, but by whom? We don’t have billionaire’s clubs ala Soros to fund “grassroots” organizations years in advance of elections to funnel funds neighborhood organizers.

The media does its share by portraying Republicans as fat cat Wall St moguls when Republicans have been the party of the middle class for decades while big money has been in the pocket of the left.

Talking to people who get their information from the media is frustrating because they think they’re informed and their attitude is, what makes you think you know more than the NYT?
