[A sycophant suggested that I promote and expand one of my comments on another post, so here it is]

Americans love their entertainment and comfort. This is often interpreted as weakness by other cultures, but such people have never stood between an American and his TV with the Big Game playing. We like our entertainment so much that we’ll kill anyone who persistently stops us from enjoying it. Americans won’t fight and die for a standard of living, but we sure as heck will slaughter foreigners for it.

entertainment is a mechanism for allowing people an escape from the quotadian world, and its demands. american society is far more driven that any other on the planet, and consequently we have a higher need for it. couple this with the outstanding quality of entertainment available here, and you have a population that takes this spect of life very seriously indeed.

now, there is another important aspect function to entertainment — it provides an example of how to dream big. compare french movies (for example) with most american movies. their movies are suffused with a fatalism that is pretty much absent from here; at least from successful movies :) this dynamic quality to the american character serves to draw in the dreamers and pioneers from all over the world.

eventually we will in fact have all of the best people in the world, in one place — here. and the rest of the world will remain the mess it is. but less threatening once the large trouble makers like france, and russia and china have left the stage.

russia is on a self-imposed death spiral

china is already exhibiting severe internal stresses, and historically has had trouble acting as a unified nation.

france has a pronounced decline in the percentage of its citicenry that are of european heritage

we won’t have to get rid of them, they are doing it themselves.

when i say “all the best people” i meant that in a much broader sense than you are using it. that is an objectively measurable fact. american dominance is accelerating at a greater rate than any other time of my life. and little canada gets to come along for the ride, free.

it’s how we dream the future into being, a prototype for a krell machine.
