Congeries of cross connected concepts
Alledgedly the comments in question are considered by some to be the influence of Maines' Hollywood husband. I wonder what is said among the Chicks these days. What if you were part of a fantastically successfully musical trio and it was all ruined by some stupid public comments brought on by the stupidity of the fancy pants husband of one of the group? Is Maines' husband the next Yoko Ono?

I have a question for all those who now hate the Dixy Chicks due to the lead singers comments. Would you care if I were to make that same statement? I highly doubt it, so move on. Get a life. Aren’t celebrities entitled to thier own opinions.

I love the dixy chicks and let me tell you. HELLO THEY’RE AMERICANS! FREEDOM OF FREEKIN’ SPEECH!!! Where do these people get off getting angry at ANY American voicing their opionion. If I were one of the Dixy chicks I would be ashamed of being from TEXAS right now. I think it’s awesome she says how she feels too bad these people have to be big babys about it! I’m proud to be an American and I’m proud I have the right to say when i don’t like something. Duh!

Who, exactly, has infringed on the freedom of speech for the Dixie Chicks? Have they been executed, tortured, thrown in jail, had their relatives kidnapped for good behaviour?
As for getting angry at people for speaking, I fail to see where that is not also the exercise of freedom of speech. Apparently, in your view, it’s open season on President Bush but the Dixie Chicks, well, they’re inviolable. None may speak against them. I am curious as to how the Dixie Chicks acquired this ability to suppress other people’s freedom of speech. Why are you not proud of those who have the right to say when they don’t like something, like the Dixie Chicks?
You might also consider that the right to speak doesn’t come with a right to an audience.

Frankly, I wouldn’t care. I’ve had that happen many times. I would consider it your problem, not mine. If I did care about things like that, I’d be a fool to run a weblog like this.
That said, I’m not clear on who is hating whom for “one little comment”. I’ve never said I hated the Dixie Chicks. I simply have no feelings about them one way or the other. I followed the story primarily because I found it all quite amusing.
